It’s so easy and versatile! Just think of this recipe as your base. Add or subtract ingredients as you see fit. You can’t miss this one up. Think green peppers, Ricotta Cheese, Sausage, Pepperoni, Onions, and other traditional (or not so traditional) pizza toppings.
I make this homemade pizza dough recipe for the base of this one or you may use your own.
Pizza Pie Recipe
The original recipe hails from Rachel Ray Magazine. I skip the Vodka Sauce, creating instead a blend of crushed tomatoes, basil, and garlic. I typically add in multiple varieties of cheese, occasionally using Ricotta Cheese along with the typical "pizza" cheese. The egg is only to add a golden color on the top. Some days I use it, others, I don't.
Ingredients
- 1 Pound Pizza Dough
- 2 Cups Shredded Italian Cheese Blend
- 1 Cup Vodka Sauce or Tomato Based Sauce of Your Choosing
- 2 Ounces Pepperoni, Sliced
- 1 Egg, Beaten
Instructions
- Grease 10-inch pie plate.
- Line pie plate with half of the dough.
- Add the ingredients.
- Top with the rest of the dough.
- Brush with Egg and cut slits into pie.
- Bake 400* for 35 minutes or until golden brown.
